The Essentials of teaching Physical Education to primary years (3 - 6)
Engaging in acts of physical activity from a young age is very important for both mental and physical health of a child. The notion of PHYSICAL LITERACY suggests the importance of establishing physically active behaviours in early childhood through to middle childhood. It is at this stage of development that children are developing healthy muscles, bones and joints as well as healthy heart and lungs. It is our job as educators to promote the healthy development of all parts of the body – after all, students spend most of their day with us, the teacher.
